A few wonderful events and rides coming up that CicLAvia participants might be interested in:
Tuesday February 8th and Thursday February 10th 2011:
> L.A.’s Community Redevelopment Agency hosts planning workshops for “My Figueroa” – making Figueroa Street more livable, more bikable, more walkable from Downtown L.A. to Exposition Park. Kick-ass Danish urban livability superstar Jan Gehl is on the design team. Meetings are: 6pm Tuesday at FIDM, 4pm Thursday at Expo Center. Meeting details here.
Friday February 18th 2011
Councilmember Jose Huizar and the LA Department of Transportation plan to unveil the city of Los Angeles’ first bike corral – at the corner of York Boulevard and Avenue 50 in Highland Park. Ribbon cutting 9am Feb 18th. Some project background here. Announced at Patch.
Sunday April 10th 2011 – Not only is there CicLAvia 2!! but also the City of Angeles Fun Ride – if you’re looking for a longer-distance faster-paced pre-CicLAvia workout in the same area, sign-up for the fun ride here… and enjoy CicLAvia afterwards.

Good Samaritan Hospital hosts the annual Blessing of the Bicycles from 8am to 9:30am – honoring Mayor Villaraigosa for his leadership on bike issues – including marshalling city agencies in support of CicLAvia! More event info soon here. Good Samaritan CEO Andy Leeka rode CicLAvia on 10-10-10 and wrote this piece about it.

The Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition presents the annual Los Angeles River Ride. Discover L.A.’s hidden river and new bike paths and parks along it – various fully supported rides for all ages.
