A few wonderful events and rides coming up that CicLAvia participants might be interested in:

Tuesday February 8th and Thursday February 10th 2011:
> L.A.’s Community Redevelopment Agency hosts planning workshops for “My Figueroa” – making Figueroa Street more livable, more bikable, more walkable from Downtown L.A. to Exposition Park.  Kick-ass Danish urban livability superstar Jan Gehl is on the design team. Meetings are: 6pm Tuesday at FIDM, 4pm Thursday at Expo Center. Meeting details here.

My Figueroa's rendering of a proposed shared space concept on 11th Street - where "the curbs and gutters would go away, and vehicles would be the subservient mode of travel in a pedestrian/cyclist dominated shared space" with "Lots of permeable surface, planting areas, space for public art and public gathering." Come see more designs at the workshops this week.

Bonus: Oliver Schulze of Gehl Architects free lecture at UCLA Friday 7pm, details on Facebook event page.
