Your responses can help us know who CicLAvia serves, how we’re doing, and what we might do differently. As an added incentive (in case helping CicLAvia wasn’t enough) if you respond to the survey by 5pm Friday April 29th 2011, you’ll be entered in a drawing to win a $200 gift certificate for Flying Pigeon bike shop in Highland Park. Aside from extending the route, perhaps LAPD might want to warn speeders to slow down. I understand that we don’t like being hassled by the police and it may stifle the festive atmosphere but there were plenty of instances when fast riders were too close to toddlers. Don’t want festive to turn into somber.

I don’t think the LAPD is necessary for this. I think that everyone should police themselves by asking faster riders to slow down and riders in turn kindly asking slower pedestrians to stay a little more to the right. I found everyone I asked to slow down, or stay right to be very receptive, but maybe that’s because I wasn’t a jerk about it. Let’s be better people, do we really need the police to tell us how to do that?

I was very excited to hear about this event! I went to Bogota Colombia in 2006 and was able to take part in their Ciclovia a couple of times. We came up from Long Beach to participate with a group of friends all on bikes. It was a beautiful day and everyone was in great spirits! Two suggestions: 1. have bike repair stops for people to purchase a new tube and have help changing a flat etc. 2. Less stop lights! Again, thank you for having this event! We plan on attending the next one!

Photos look great; my wife and I plan to attend the next event. One suggestion: young riders are required by law to wear a helmet and it would be nice if some incentives were available to encourage adults to also wear helmets. Go to any bike shop and ask their opinion.
