CicLAvia 2010 looking west on 7th Street with no cars in sight - Photo by Gary Leonard

CicLAvia is very happy that we hired Gary Leonard to help document our first big event. Leonard is one of L.A.’s great photo journalists, a longstanding fixture at nearly everything great that goes on around town. Here are a few of his great shots of the massive crowds of bicyclists in the streets on 10/10/10. We’re still blown away by the sheer numbers of cyclists that showed up! This post is bike-heavy; other modes coming soon. More Gary Leonard photos to post later this week – lots of families, kids and smiles! (click on any image to embiggen!)

A sunny day in Copenhagen? No, just CicLAvia Cyclists westbound on 7th Street near Witmer Street, Westlake

Yet another glorious gaggle of cyclists, this time on Spring Street near 7th Street, Downtown

Bicyclists descending from the 4th Street Bridge into the Arts District in Downtown L.A.

Straight outta Cycle Chic, cyclists ascend 7th Street over the 110 Freeway, Downtown

Look for more Gary Leonard photos coming later this week here at the CicLAvia blog as well as at the CicLAvia Facebook group.
