Getting Married at CicLAvia

with this chain ring, I thee wed – Mikee and Valerie on October 10th 2010

Congratulations to Valerie and Mikee, the first couple to get married at CicLAvia. We’re going to refer to them by first names only because he tells us that they haven’t told their family yet.

When CicLAvia asked Mikee to confirm the story, he responded:

It’s true.  My fiance and I have been together for 8 years.  10.10.10 was our original wedding date.  Due to our family’s scheduling conflicts, we had to hold back until January.

That’s where CicLAvia comes in.  Since, we had no wedding, we decided to join the ride.  We started at Bicycle Kitchen. While on our ride, we noticed that we were near the Guadalupe Wedding Chapel.

Valerie tells the story from there:

Decided to take a detour and check out the wedding chapel. At that moment, we both knew this was the time and date. Got married to the man of my dreams 10/10/10 12:00 and enjoyed the rest of the day biking through the streets of LA.

Mikee concludes:

We will always remember CicLAvia.  We got married while doing something we both love to do.

The happy couple neither confirmed nor denied rumors that they plan to honeymoon in Bogotá, Colombia. To the newlyweds: a big teary-eyed congratulations from the CicLAvia Team!

Amazing!! That chapel is so surreal and wonderful; that’s incredible that you did it right there on the spot. You really musta been swept up in bikey emotion. Congrats!
