Great idea. I am so excited to participate. Our group would love to do this in Culver City. Check out our site and let’s get in touch.

Great it should be a lot of fun. I’m wondering though, why is it not mentioned here that there are hundreds of events all over the world, on the same day that are in conjunction with 350.org group that are for the same reasons this event is for?.

Caroline – We’re definitely tied in to the 350.org effort for 10/10/10 – though both groups ended up picking 10/10/10 somewhat independently of each other. It’s a lucky coincidence, that we’re taking advantage of!

The CicLAvia steering committee members are nearly all environmentalists very concerned about climate change, and think that promoting alternative transportation is one critically important way to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. We’ve mentioned this on the 10 Problems list. We’ve tended to emphasized the positive, though – that CicLAvia, bicycling, and walking are fun, more than something we should be doing for health, or for supporting local business, or for combating climate change.

All that said, we’re planning a blog article about 350.org shortly, too.

This is a great concept and can not wait to participate on Sunday. One suggestion please ; Next year have the event on or near Halloween. Encourage costumes and hold a giant ,Environmentally Correct, Party at each terminus ,or just one. What a blast !

Although it is slightly early for Halloween, we definitely encourage costumes at CicLAvia. Please feel free to come in costume and tell your friends too!
