Friday CicLAvia Round-Up – 17 September 2010
It’s 23 days until Los Angeles’ First CicLAvia! The 10-10-2010 event route maps are here! We’re excited! Here’s a round-up of some of this week’s CicLAvia happenings:
> Thanks to all the businesses now sporting CicLAvia posters! Pictured at the left is Mai Mexican Kitchen – on Spring Street between 6th and 7th Street. To get your own poster, especially for posting at businesses on or near the route, email info [at] ciclavia.org. Where have you spotted a CicLAvia poster?
> Mayor Villaraigosa, a stalwart supporter of CicLAvia, has called a press conference in support of CicLAvia. It takes place at 9am on Wednesday, September 22nd – next week! Everyone invited – come show your support.
> New city Transportation Management Plan maps have been posted at CicLAvia’s maps page. These show the details of the 10-10-10 route, locations of crossing points for cars, manned street closures, and more. We’re planning to an article introducing and decoding these – hopefully next week!
> Design Week / LA is happening October 9th-16th and coinciding with CicLAvia on 10-10-10! Design Week / LA is an annual celebration of design that inspires and brings together Los Angeles’ abundant and vital design communities by promoting a wider awareness of design through initiatives and programming that highlight the richness and diversity of design activities happening throughout the communities of Los Angeles. Thanks, Design Week, for including CicLAvia in the festivities! Be sure to head over to the DWkLA website to find out about other design-related events happening in and around the city the week of CicLAvia.
