KPCC AirTalk discusses CicLAvia (Wed. 12/2 at 11:30am)
KPCC’s AirTalk, with host Larry Mantle, is a talk radio program providing Los Angeles with “lively and in-depth discussions of city news, politics, science, the arts, entertainment and more.”
In November, AirTalk ran a series of shows titled Pavement Wars. The response they received was intense, and great for ratings. The controversial discussion pitted “cyclists vs motorists” and the AirTalk blog received an extraordinary number of comments as a result. An average show may draw around 15 comments to their blog while Pavement Wars: cyclists vs motorists – Part 1 recieved 103 comments. The real topic of that series was the result of the Mandeville Canyon incident where a former physician attacked 2 cyclists with his vehicle and was found Guilty x 7.
Today, Larry Mantle asks listeners an assumed to be similarly controversial question, “Would you support weekly shutdowns of a major road to make way for Sunday cycling?”
Based on comments that we receive on this blog, there are a lot of Angelenos who say, “Yes!”
If you’d like to be part of the conversation, I encourage you to call in at 866-893-5722. You can listen live online at www.kpcc.org and over the air at 89.3 KPCC FM. Tune in today (Wed, 12/2) at 11:30 am to hear CicLAvia representative Joe Linton discuss the logistics and benefits of having ciclovia in LA.
