sounds cool here are a few more ideas for planning.
1. would be cool if you started creating maps showing potential cycling corridors. At least we could start seeing the feasibility of these concepts. seems like one step forward from visualization to reality.
2. would be cool if they were able to create something or utilize something similar to the highline park in new york to traverse accross the grid. My first guess is the LA river, but that would still leave large areas in the region untouched by the path.

The Eastside Bike Club is a community bike club and has riders as young as 6 years old and as old as 76 years old. We ride twice a week on Tuesday NIGHTS and Saturday MORNINGS and travel all around Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley.
Discovering our City from a view of a bike seat is a wonderful experience. My thoughts on the CicLAvia experiment in Boyle Heights is that it will be an attraction that every community in Los Angeles will want. It will unite communities; create economy opportunities to local businesses in the area.
Residents in the area will see what is going on in their back yards and may stimulate families to try it. It can be a kickstart for a healthier lifestyle and break the chain of kids who play video games all day.
When I started riding a bike again, taking a bike ride a mile away to run an errand was too long of a trip, today, a year and a half later, a twenty, thirty, even forty mile trek doesn’t seem difficult at all.
Everyone has been complaining about traffic congestion, gas prices, and parking spaces /parking rates. I say to you all “CHANGE THE BEHAVIOR TO CHANGE THE RESULTS”
This is a start of something that will REVOLUTIONIZE our communities, stir commerce save our communities health. It will change the way we think of about transportation in our “World Class City” – with our antiquated transportation system.
This is the start of a movement! A movement that is un-stoppable!
We are not “hipsters” we just enjoy a simple pleasure of a bike ride in our city!

Absolutely right. This is right on so many levels including the civilizing effect on our metropolis.
(I don’t really care for the Wilshire visualization; it’s cluttered and confusing and implies that bikers will have to dodge soccer games. It’s not like that at all.)
I suggest you post real photos from incredible bike rides in Mexico City and Bogota.

I’ve experienced Bogota Colombia when they open selected streets to bicycles only. It’s amazing, I think they do it there every Sunday.

Come visit the EASTSIDE BIKE CLUB at the LADWP Festival of Lights this Thursday, December 3rd at Griffith Park. We will have a booth at the festival.
This festival takes place adjacent to the LA ZOO and is a mile of Christmas music and lights. This is the closest thing we have to a CICLAVIA in Los Angeles. The streets are closed to motor vehicle traffic and Cyclist have the road to enjoy this evening.
THE EASTSIDE BIKE CLUB will be launching their First Annual CAN FOOD DRIVE at this festival. So PLEASE DROP BY TO SAY HELLO AND BRING A CAN OF FOOD. The food will go to families in our community that are going thru some tough times.
The event takes place between the hours of 5pm and 10pm.
